This wedding was special, as Bridget and Josh asked me to shoot it entirely on film. I usually a shoot a hybrid film and digital, so this was a really fun challenge. Bridget is an incredible illustrator and Josh a powerhouse commercial photographer, I always feel honoured when other artists ask me to shoot their wedding.
The French Bay Yacht Club in Titirangi is an iconic venue in Auckland. A mid-century New Zealand modernist building right on the water. A classic location for a relaxed but cool kiwi coastal wedding. The couple decked it out with multi-coloured bunting and balloons for a festival/carnival vibe, with a special hand sewn banner reading ‘Jigs and Swigs with the Griggs’
Bridget’s bestie happens to be Love James owner Lizzie, so she was always going to have a unique vintage dress. I was so excited to see what she would wear and it didn’t disappoint! Her main dress was a delicate 1970s tea dress in embossed silk with rosette details at the back. Later on for the party she changed into a corseted 80’s bubble hemmed mini with a beauty queen sash, embroidered knickers and tights adorned with pearls. Actual heaven!
The vibes were so high all day, with gorgeous guests who know how to have a good time. They got their favourite inner city neighbourhood spots Pici Italian food and Norma Taps cocktails to cater, and a surprise visit from a Mr Whippy icecream truck instead of a cake.
Bridget and Josh are two deeply creative souls who are so sweet to each other and to their friends and family. One of those couples that are just so meant to be xx
